Hull FC got the job done at Featherstone in a game of two halves, winning 34-14 on Saturday night.
Here are Up the Cream’s individual player reviews.
Full Back: Jake Connor – The Snake had a hand in everything good Hull did in the first half. Familiar pattern developing here. Got to continue to improve and raise the bar further though.
Right Wing: Mahe Fonua – Few huge runs and left a few Featherstone players on their backsides. He’s still working himself into the player he was in his first spell at the club.
Right Centre: Carlos Tuimavave – Class. Sheer class. Two well-deserved tries for the silky centre who ran well and caused problems all game.
Left Centre: Josh Griffin – Far too hot for Featherstone to handle. Started the season superbly, both on and off the pitch (just check his Twitter page). One of Hull’s best every week.
Left Wing: Bureta Faraimo – The wrecking ball on the wing. Got the ball rolling for Hull with the first try. Good to see him back out there.
Half Back: Ben McNamara – Linked well with Houghton and Connor. Hull need to see him get involved even more over the next few weeks, though.
Half Back: Danny Houghton – Started well but a few things did become wayward in the second half when composure was needed. Not a bad show though stepping into the halves at the last minute.
Prop: Scott Taylor – Set the platform early on. Perhaps a pride thing starting games, and this fella has loads of that.
Hooker: Jordan Johnstone – Really tidy return to the side. Excellent try and distributed well.
Prop: Chris Satae – Constantly bent the Featherstone line. Made loads of ground. He’s been outstanding so far this season.
Right Back Row: Andre Savelio – Was busy all evening and looked to make inroads. He’s a player, we all knew that, and he’s showing it now getting a proper run in the side.
Left Back Row: Manu Ma’u – Solid before a problem with his calf saw him leave the field early in the second half. We’ll await what happens there.
Loose Forward: Jordan Lane – Ran some belting lines as always. Looking the part and now a key member of the side ahead of his 50th Hull appearance next week.
Prop: Josh Bowden – Solid return and got through with no reported head issues which is good to see.
Prop: Brad Fash – Come into the side this year and not looked back. He and his mullet have been brilliant in both of his games so far.
Loose Forward: Joe Cator – One of us. His energy and enthusiasm levels are off the scale. Last ditch tackles and hard running the norm. Cheers, lads.
Centre: Cameron Scott – Came on when Griffin went off for a head test in a period where Featherstone were on top. Did little wrong.
