New Hull FC signing Josh Jones has been included in the Super League Dream Team for 2019.
The back rower has been sublime this season for Salford, helping the Red Devils to a third place finish before his move to East Yorkshire.
Some of the Dream Team however, picked by the Man of Steel panel of ex-player ‘experts’ (presumably after several pints of the strong stuff), is pretty dubious.
St Helens have the most inclusions with five, but is that really a reflection of their dominance this year? They’ve lost just three times and they have won the league by a record 16 points. There’s no Jonny Lomax too which is beyond baffling. He’s been Saints’ best and most consistent player – but then again he’s not the Australian Blake Austin who it’s obligatory to wax lyrical about.
Konrad Hurrell is also named despite missing more tackles than he has Sunday dinners, alongside fellow Whino Ash Handley, who does boast 22 tries this year.
Former Airlie Bird Liam Watts is finally getting the credit he deserves with an inclusion. Watts has been outstanding for Castleford this season, as he was in the majority of his 152 appearances for Hull FC.
Not surprisingly no current Hull FC players were included in 2019, who have been way too inconsistent and missed out on the play-offs after a poor run of results.
The full Dream Tream is: 1. Lachlan Coote, 2. Tommy Makinson, 3. Kevin Naiqama, 4. Konrad Hurrell, 5. Ash Handley, 6. Blake Austin. 7. Jackson Hastings, 8. Liam Watts, 9. Daryl Clark, 10. Luke Thompson, 11. Josh Jones, 12. Liam Farrell, 13. Morgan Knowles.
