Last night’s Hull FC Fans Forum: The Best Bits

All the more favourable quotes from last night’s Fans Forum. Shout out to supporters group FC Voices for once again setting it up, and to the Walton Club for hosting what was another entertaining and intriguing night.

Lee Radford

  1. “I don’t think I’d leave my bedroom if I read half the things that are put on social media about me.”
  2. “The Lee Smith situation is win win for the club. It’s only a trial but his skill sets look good.
  3. “I was disappointed to lose Mickey. He sent me a video of him on the beach this morning so I think he probably isn’t feeling the same!”
  4. “Reece Dean, Ross Osborne and Jez Litten are all making massive gains from training with the first team squad.”
  5. “We finished second in the comp for tackle busts and clean breaks. We need to tidy up our skill and execution.”
  6. “We’ve identified where we feel we fell short last year, and the people we’ve brought in are good characters as well as good players.”
  7. “Mahe spent 25 minutes by the radiator at training trying to get some feeling back into his hands!”
  8. “Jordan Abdull has been given the 13 shirt but we still see him as a half back. Carlos is an international half back so we’ve got 4 for 2 spots.”
  9. “U23s can only be a plus for the young players on the fringe. I don’t think any club has promoted youth in the last 2 years as much as us.”
  10. “A few of the youngsters adapted and took control of some games last season. We’ve got a really talented pool of young players below the half established guys like Fash and Downs.

Adam Pearson

  1. “Only Frank Pritchard and Sam Tomkins are ‘marquee players’, although I’m sure Wire have four or five hidden away somewhere.”
  2. “If Lee Radford continues to help Hull FC progress he will remain as head coach.”
  3. “We should make Mahe feel very welcome because I really think he’ll get bums off seats next year. He’s a top international player.”
  4. “There’s a lot more to come from Marc Sneyd. He’s only 23 and will become a really good half back given time.”
  5. “Fetuli has come back in great shape for pre-season, he’s made a great contribution to the club since he came in.”
  6. “Feka is somebody we’d like to take into the club on a long term basis. We’re getting into schools and getting kids playing rugby again.”
  7. “The derby friendly gives us a financial boost. The intensity of the game is better than you get from any other team.”

Sika Manu

  1. On the Middle Eights: “I don’t really know what you’re talking about as we’re only looking at the top four!”
  2. “I’m hoping to achieve big things with Hull. I’ve been coached by Stephen Kearney and he said only good things about the club.”
  3. “I’m expecting a physical and challenging competition in Super League. Games against English teams are always physical.”
  4. “When I left Sydney it was 38 degrees. I had 4 layers on for my first session.”
