Hull FC’s annual Player of the Year awards took place on Tuesday evening at the new and shiny Bonus Arena.
It’s been another long season, full of joy and sorrow, and for the sake of a cheeky plug, explained perfectly with the latest fanzine front cover. (see bottom of page)
There’s been some special moments though, from the first ever Golden Point win at Wigan, to a record Derby drubbing, but sadly the recent poor form and slide down the table has took the gloss away.
But this is supposed to be a happy article. So here goes, a round up of all the award winners at the Hull FC Player of the Year dinner.
Hull FC Clubman of the Year – Jade Hilton
The jack of all trades, Jade works hard across the retail, ticketing and commercial departments of the club.
Hull FC Community Player of the Year – Brad Fash
The 23-year-old has had a superb second half of the season and actually won Hull FC’s Player of the Month for August. His purple patch continued with recognition for his community work in schools with the kids. G-Unit loves you Brad.
Hull FC Ladies Player of the Year – Danielle Waters
The inaugural winner is Danielle Waters for her performances in the Ladies Championship this season.
Hull FC Academy Player of the Year – Jack Brown
The teenager has has a sublime season. He’s starred in the Reserves, and has also made two Super League appearances, scoring on his debut. The next branch of baby-faced assassin, he would have had more top flight experience if not for a freak injury earlier in the year.
Hull FC Young Player of the Year – Jordan Lane
The Lane Train goes back to back with the award he won last year. The 21-year-old looks the part in Super League. His defence is outstanding and he knows how to pick a line. Yeah Hull have got Manu Ma’u and Josh Jones to come in 2020, but don’t forget about this lad. Massive future ahead.
Hull FC Try of the Year – Josh Griffin
Hull FC centre Josh Griffin wins the Try of the Year award for his sensational effort at Catalans in June. Hull won the game 50-10, and this try was started and finished by the centre. Involving Ratu Naulgao, Marc Sneyd, and Bureta Faraimo, it was top draw rugby league, reminding all what this squad is capable of when they decide to turn up.
Hull FC Supporters Player of the Year – Josh Griffin
Two up for Josh Griffin as he wins the fans’ player. Griffin has been an absolute metre machine in 2019, also touching down for 12 tries. The shortlist was Danny Houghton, Ratu Naulago, Marc Sneyd and of course Griffin himself.
Hull FC Players Player of the Year – Josh Griffin
He’s just getting greedy now. Griffin wins the Players Player as voted by the Hull FC playing squad.
Hull FC Player of the Year – Josh Griffin
It’s a clean sweep for Josh Griffin. He’s won the 2019 Supporters, Players, and Coaches Player of the Year. Well done Josh.
