City of Hull ended a three match losing streak with a 50-16 victory over Newcastle at YPI. Here’s how the Hull FC ring-fenced lads got on.
– Ryan Adamson – Scored the opener and worked hard all game. Defensively sound and looked to take the ball forward. Had a tough year with injury keeping him out for a few months but the winger is relishing a strong run in the side now
– Bradley Spriggs – The senior utility player put in another good performance for City of Hull. Scored a deserved try and was a handful all afternoon.
– Kieran Buchanan – The rookie under-19 centre has eight tries in nine appearances this season now. He’s had a great first year. Fast, agile and strong he certainly knows his way to the try line – he crossed twice against Newcastle, the second the pick of the lot after a slick inside step. Got a very intriguing future.
– Billy Wardell – Broke numerous tackles on the left edge and ran some great lines. Unlucky not to score as came within a whisker of the line on more than once occasion.
– Callum Baker – Had a good run in the side recently and is benefitting from it. Like many of the FC lads at this level this year, a rookie who will only learn from such experience.
– Rob Branton – Another – and like the majority of this side – a first year under-19 player. Had a big impact in the middle, carried strongly and defensively got stuck in.
– Charlie Weaver – The prop’s got a great leg drive and always gets his legs pumping. Effort, energy and enthusiasm can never be questioned. Hopefully get another shot at under-23 level soon.
