The City of Hull Academy recorded their sixth win in seven outings to move into the top four with a 28-10 victory over Widnes. Here’s how the Hull FC ring-fenced lads got on..

1 Lochlan Fitzergerald – Great intent to attack even from kick returns. Loch broke free on a number of occasions and made good metres. Good under the high bomb and positional awareness is spot on.

4 Kieran Buchanan – Really impressive since he’s come into under-19 level. Kieran is athletic, strong and has an eye for the try-line. Always a threat with ball in hand.

2 Jack Sanderson – Scored a peach of a try from Litten’s kick. Rarely put a foot wrong all afternoon or for that matter all season. Defensively sound and capable of playing across all of the three-quarter line.

6 Bobby Downs – Tough half back that really put his body on the line. Got stuck in defensively and actually dislodged the ball of much bigger players. Was in the wars second half and came off for protection more than anything. Running game is superb. Love to see him alongside his older brother Jack for Hull FC in the future.

8 Charlie Weaver – Bags of effort as usual in an energetic performance. Carried the ball strongly and was always available to take it up.

11 Zeus Silk – All hail Zeus. Strong carries and a strong display are the norm for the back rower. He never has a bad game.

12 Jordan Lane – Outstanding performance before he came off with half his tooth sank into Joe Wardill’s head. Scored two top class tries. First a peach of a line to storm over and the second a 90 metre dash to the line. Showed great speed for a back rower and no doubt has a massive future at Hull FC.

14 Jez Litten – A real spark from the interchange, Jez set up two tries late on with a pin-point kick to corner for Sanderson and a neat inside pass for Osborne. Kicking from dummy half superb and he’s another with a massive future.

15 Brad Clavering – Physically domineering at this level. Potent carries and smashed over the line for his try.

17 Ross Osborne – Got through a mountain of work in his second stint especially. Scored a deserved try late on after coming inches short a few sets before. Offload game coming to the fore too.
