This Thursday marks three years since the tragic passing of Hull FC Academy hooker Brad Parker.
Brad, who died alongside his best friend Daniel Matson, are sorely missed by all who knew them, but given their popularity, their names will never be forgotten.
Brad was an explosive hooker that came through the Airlie Bird ranks under Danny Wilson and then Richard Horne. He was part of a talented Bishop Burton College-based Hull FC Academy line up in 2015 that now boasts plenty of Super League players.
Sadly Brad’s career at Hull FC ended a bit prematurely mid-way through 2015, but that didn’t diminish his relationship with any of his former team-mates.
Brad was a passionate rugby league fan, with his personality bordering on the crazy side, but that’s what made him who he was, and the reasoning why so many people loved him.
Joel Laynez, a former Hull FC Academy forward, posted on Facebook, “Three years ago today. I didn’t just lose a mate, I lost a brother. Never gets any easier kinda. Love and miss you so much. Fly high Tat.”
Reece Dean, a former Hull half back now at Skirlaugh, posted on Twitter, “Three years already. Never stop thinking about you bro. Love you to bits.”
Former Hull winger Callum Lancaster put on his Twitter page, “Three years today. Memories that last forever, rest in peace.”
Jez Litten, current Hull FC hooker, posted on Facebook, “Thinking of you and the family.”
Alongside his rugby commitments, Brad was also an apprentice at local company CDY Ceilings, owned by passionate Hull FC fan Chris Young.
The company tweeted, “Another year goes by and always in our thoughts. Missed by us all. Thoughts with the family and friends of Brad Parker, three years ago today, taken far too early.”
UTC has said this before and we’ll say it again: the under-19s team of 2015 was the best Academy team we’ve seen in our time folllowing Hull FC, with several of the squad, all close friends of Brad’s, still in the first team picture today.
As always, our thoughts at UTC go out to Brad’s family, in particular his dad, Steve.
